Roland's specialty is anticipating and seamlessly integrating user needs into the design, development, and delivery of a product and accompanying services. Trained as both an Architect and as a programmer, he has combined these two abilities to design and deliver outstanding applications in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) and IT industries.
Roland has eight years of software industry experience, much of which
has involved working with distributed teams. At Gensler, he delivered
to Wells Fargo Bank a graphic based facilities management system to manage
twelve million square feet in two hundred sites. At ABT and Niku, as a
Senior Product Manager Roland managed the design and delivery of Workbench,
a database based enterprise project management and scheduling application.
He also provided all project management design content to Niku Director,
a zero client, XML based web based project and resource management application.
Just before coming to GPD, at Energetics, an international energy consulting
firm, Roland managed a remote team in Sydney to develop an international
release of a client-web server based energy auditing application.
Previously Roland has worked in the construction industry both designing
and renovating buildings. As an avid car buff, he has restored many cars,
trucks, and motorcycles and continues to maintain two late 60's classic
muscle cars. Roland holds a BS in History and Public Policy, a Bachelor
of Architecture, and a MS in CAD Systems Design from Carnegie-Mellon University
in Pittsburgh, PA.
